Finca Colina de los Almendros organic farm nestles in a typically Spanish hamlet on a hillside surrounded by almond and olive trees yet is only 40 minutes drive from Malaga airport. This peaceful, truly Spanish environment is the perfect place to unwind, relax and recharge. Finca Colina is
a mountain retreat in Real Spain where you have time and space just
"to be". Some people come to Finca Colina on a “normal” self-catering holiday. They relax by the pool, on their own terrace or in their own sitting room and cook in their own kitchen or on the bbq, unless they decide to eat out. They hire a car and visit places of interest such as the Alhambra, Granada, Seville, Cordoba, Cadiz, Trafalgar and Gibraltar, to mention just a few, can be visited as a day trip. In 40 minutes you can be on the beach and basking in the warm Mediterranean or eating freshly caught fish in one of the many chiringuitos (beach restaurants). Then you can return to the tranquillity of your own mountain space. Some guests come
to Finca Colina to have a quiet space to write a book or to paint. Some
want to walk in our wonderful natural countryside whilst bird watching
or spotting plants (we have many varieties of wild orchids and irises)
Some come to take stock of their lives because they want to make a change.
This can be done alone or with the support of Christine who is a qualified
life coach. Some want to get fit and for these people we have fantastic
walks, bike routes and a pool with wonderful views. For those who want a truly unique experience we can arrange an hour or more with a woman and her horses. The horses aren’t “riding stable” horses. This is more than horse riding. It’s a time to find out about yourself and the horse. You can de-stress, develop understanding and confidence whilst having fun. Alison (who we think is a horse whisperer) will be with you all the way. You can learn about Bach flower or homeopathic remedies and how to prescribe them. You can take Spanish classes. So, just chill out by doing nothing much or take some time to develop yourself physically, personally or spiritually. However you decide to give yourself a holiday we hope you will retreat to Finca Colina. You can experience
Finca Colina as an individual, a family, with friends or as part of
a group.Once your booking is confirmed we take no more bookings so you
have your own private rooms and exclusive use of the pool and garden. You
have your own space and privacy but we are nearby if you need us. We don't have television, easy internet access, sport's bars or "happy hours". Our music is the tune of goat bells and bird song.We have fresh mountain air, sensational views and tracks where you can walk all day. This is a paradise for bird watchers and naturalists.Enjoy watching the turtles as you stroll along the banks of the Casasola reservoir. We have 2 Mountain bikes available for hire to enable you to explore the various mountain tracks leading from the Finca. We do have a DVD player and small library of DVDs and books which you may borrow. We also have a "bar" within 5 minutes walk of the Finca. This is a room which is part of a neighbour's house! The locals are curious and friendly and speak only Andaluz.Beware of the local country wine! During the heat of the day you can cool off in our pool with stunning mountain views or laze under the shade of the pergola with a refreshing drink. If you love natural water you can swim in the Casasola reservoir which is a 10 minute drive. For a day at the seaside the Mediterranean is a 40 minute drive. "Our stay here was indeed a 'retreat' and the absolute silence (interrupted by the occasional far-off sound of the goats and donkeys) was idyllic, together with the fantastic views of mountains all around. Photographs and words just cannot do justice to the fantastic 'real' Spain which we experienced at Finca Colina"...Barbara and Judith (Newcastle upon Tyne - September 2007, May 2009 and August 2010).
